Busquets and Alba to join squad for Germany training camp

Barring any last-minute hitches, the two Spanish internationals will travel with the first team squad to Germany on Wednesday

Wednesday will mark 21 days since Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba were knocked out of Euro 2020 at the hands of eventual winners Italy. The two players are due back in training tomorrow, and are expected to travel with the first team squad to the pre-season training camp in Germany.

They may even undergo the corresponding PCR, physical and medical assessments on Tuesday morning with a view to participating in Koeman's first team session on Tuesday evening. If they don't manage to train today, they will do so tomorrow morning before the squad jets out to Germany. They will be based at the SV AASEN Sports Centre and are due to play a friendly against Stuttgart at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Important players for Koeman

Koeman decided to grant a three-week rest period to all international players. The latest player to return to training is Ronald Araujo, who participated in Monday's session after Uruguay were knocked out of the Copa América on 4 July. Two days later, on 6 July, Spain lost in a penalty shoot-out against Italy in the European Championship. Barça's 'La Roja' contingent are therefore due to return to training tomorrow.

Spain's captain and vice-captain, two very important captains for Ronald Koeman, are now set to return for yet another pre-season at FC Barcelona.
