The Espanyol player was hurt by comments that "are not true" about his departure from FC Barcelona

Martin Braithwaite gave an interview for Catalunya Ràdio's 'Tot Costa' programme. He spoke about his happy start with Espanyol, and move from Barça, and heaped a lot of praise for Ousmane Dembélé.

Braithwaite went as far as to state that the Frenchman "makes more of a difference than Lewandowski", although he did qualify that the Pole "scores a lot of goals, I'm happy for him, he's a great professional. I wish him all the luck to have a very good season, but now I'm here to win at Espanyol".

As for Dembélé, he added that "Ousmane is a very good chap, I like him a lot, he has enormous talent, I've never seen anyone like that. Messi is something else, but I've never seen anyone like Ousmane".

On his departure from Barça, he didn't want to dig into the wound, although he did say that "people don't know everything, they read the press and it's not true what was said. It's the past and now I'm happy".

Braithwaite preferred to stress that "I have a lot of positive things about Barcelona in my head, now I'm here, where I want to be".

The Dane added that the offer from Espanyol "came at the perfect time" and that staying in Barcelona was a decisive factor: "My family likes it a lot and it's important to continue living here".

Braithwaite is an atypical footballer, he is on the Forbes list of the world's biggest fortunes with businesses other than football, but he relativised this aspect: "I don't want to talk about money, health is the most important thing. If you don't have health, what do you do with the money? That's why I'm very lucky, with my family we have health, which is the most important thing".
