Borussia Dortmund interested in move for Memphis Depay

The Dutch forward wants to leave for free if he has to depart FC Barcelona

Memphis will leave Barcelona, but the player is trying to go for free to be able to get the best contract possible at his new club.

He came to Barcelona last summer and made a big economic effort, lowering his salary, so that the Catalan team could sign him. Barcelona wanted to earn around €20 million for Memphis, but understand they must lower their asking price to be able to convince the player to leave. The Dutchman has various offers on the table and Borussia Dortmund have contacted him to see if he can fill in for Sebastian Haller, who unfortunately is sidelined after being diagnosed with testicular cancer, although the German side want to get him for free or on loan.

Barça had Memphis‘s move to Juventus relatively on track, in a deal where the player would have to renew for a year to be able to go out on loan with an obligatory buy clause at the end of the season. But that idea has been frozen after the player let it be known his idea is to go for free and choose his destiny, although nobody rules out that there could still be a deal with Juventus who like the Dutch winger a lot. In any case Barcelona aren’t planning to let him go for free as it stands.

In England there are links to United in Manchester and Arsenal, but the reality is no offers have arrived yet from there. Barcelona hope to advance on this topic this week and it seems clear that the forward will not be played again by coach Xavi Hernandez.
