Borussia Dortmund are very reluctant to let Thomas Meunier leave for Barça

The German club believe that it is too late in the transfer window to find a replacement for him

The final signings of this summer may be the most problematic. There is little time left in the window and clubs are very reluctant to let players leave. The most promising case is Marcos Alonso, although it is not yet closed. The Meunier alternative for the right-back spot is tricky although Barça believe that there are prospects to bring him in.

Borussia Dortmund, as ensued in January, do not want to let him leave because of the difficulty of finding a replacement in the market and, for now, have decided to freeze his departure although communications are still open.

Dortmund would open the door to Meunier as long as the price tag of ten million euros is met and they can sign a right-back first. The German club have looked at some alternatives, but the prices are high and they are hesitant to open a negotiation with Barça. The Blaugrana club on their end are hoping that the player's desire to sign can help bring the fee down and force a move.

Barça furthermore need to ensure that there is a fair deal in place for Dest before they proceed. The American is aware that Xavi does not count on him but so far has been very reluctant to show any intention of leaving.
