"I don't want us to look like Barça now, maybe the one from years ago..."

Benfica coach Jorge Jesus had the dubious honour of converting praise for his team into a criticism of Barcelona. After beating Standard Liege in the Europa League 3-0 on Thursday, Mehdi Carcela, who played for the Belgian side in the game, praised the Portuguese side's performance.

"Jorge Jesus likes to have the ball a lot," he said. "In the first half, we had very little possession. With Pizzi and Taraabt, Benfica are like Barça."

However, Jesus didn't take the Barcelona comparison as a compliment.

"I will not say that we resemble Barça," he said in his post-game press conference. "The one from a few years ago yes, but the one from now has nothing. I don't want us to look like Barça now, but I wouldn't mind the one from years ago..."

After losing in the Champions League knockout rounds to PAOK, Benfica have won five from five in the league and two from two in the Europa League.
