The Dutchman has not been at his best for Barcelona and they might cash in

Frenkie de Jong can become one of the summer market’s big names. The Dutch midfielder, despite his irregular performance at Barcelona has always had high stock and big clubs want him. Manchester United and PSG are interested, while Bayern Munich are also alert to the midfielder’s future.

Their coach Julian Nagelsmann has asked the board to pay close attention to any developments because he loves the midfielder’s game and believes he could be very useful in Bavaria. The Germans are not being proactive but to want to be kept abreast of any developments if Barcelona want to listen to offers for him.

Bayern have Robert Lewandowski in their favour. The Polish forward has not renewed and his contract expires in 2023. If he wants to force a move to Barcelona, De Jong’s name could appear in the negotiations. Barcelona don’t want to sell the player for now, as Jordi Cruyff and Xavi have said, but it depends on the size of any offers they get.

De Jong was signed as a player for the present and the future but has not reached the level expected of him. He cost 86 million euros and the club would accept around that.
