Bayern alert to the Frenkie de Jong situation at Barca
The Dutch midfielder is liked in Munich and the project is more interesting to him than others
Frenkie de Jong has made it clear he wants to stay at Barca but it doesn’t mean there aren’t clubs that want him.
One of them is Bayern Munich, who were waiting for this summer after sounding out the possibility this year.
Bayern would be a tempting project, above the offers he had from the Premier League a few months ago.
De Jong is planning to fulfil his contract with Barca, although the club will try to get his salary reduced sooner or later.
This has to happen soon because the club will have salary problems in the summer.
Barcelona appreciate De Jong’s immense quality but also think his salary is ‘out of market’.
De Jong thinks it’s not his fault Barca agreed to pay him what they did and he rejected an even higher offer from PSG back in the day, so is not willing to lower his deal.
Barca wanted to accept a bid from Man United for him but the player did not want to go there.
Bayern are convinced Barca will need to sell this summer and De Jong can be bought for a decent price as he has a year left on his deal from the summer.
Barcelona feel that an big offer will arrive for him. De Jong did not want to go to the Premier League, especially not Man United, but Bayern might be a different story. His is comfortable in Barcelona, but Bayern have made it known that they are alert.
