Bartomeu: I have known where De Ligt will play next season for months

The president said he knows how the transfer saga is going to end

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu reiterated what he said a few months ago -- that he knows where Matthijs de Ligt will play next season.

However, Bartomeu did not want to give any clues as to which the club the Ajax defender will sign for -- if he does leave Amsterdam.

"I said a while ago I knew where De Ligt was going to play and I maintain that. I am reading that there are problems negotiating with Ajax [for Juventus], but we will see," he said. "In the end, it's the player that decides where he's going and when to announce it, but I insist that I know where he will go."

The reality is that De Ligt is close to Juve, who are offering 12 million euros in salary per season, but they haven't reached an agreement with Ajax.

Barça know it will be tough to turn things around, given they will not up their offer to the player and his agent, Mino Raiola.

De Ligt is due back in for preseason with Ajax on Monday and we will see how things develop.
