Bartomeu, Grau & Bordas hold meeting with Barcelona's four captains

The club arranged a video call to talk about a number of issues with Messi, Busquets, Pique and Sergi Roberto

The Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, CEO Oscar Grau and director Javier Bordas spoke with the club's four captains on Wednesday, Leo Messi, Sergi Busquets, Gerard Pique and Sergi Roberto.

The meeting took place via video conference, as is the norm at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic and the state of alarm in Spain requiring people to stay at home.

There were two reasons for the meeting. Firstly, Bartomeu wanted to give the players a first hand run down of the institutional crisis that has gripped the club this week.

Six directors resigned last Thursday (Rousaud, Tombas, Silvio Elías, Josep Pons, Calsamiglia and Maria Teixidor), leading to a restructuring of the board earlier this week. The social media scandal Barçagate was one reason for the resignations.

Secondly, more importantly, and more relevantly, they wanted to speak about the possible scenarios in the event that the state of the alarm is lifted.

Barça, through Bartomeu, Grau and Bordas, have explained that the return to training will be at the same time as all over teams in Spain and in collaboration with La Liga and the government.

Once training becomes a reality again, all clubs will follow the recommended protocol.
