Benfica will cut short his loan because he has not played enough games in 2017

Valverde does not want him at the club and Barca want him to go out on loan somewhere else

FC Barcelona are working to find a destination for Douglas Pereira if Benfica cut short his loan in the winter transfer window, as seems likely.

With these circumstances looming, Barcelona have put hands to work on finding him a new destination because Ernesto Valverde does not count on him or want him as part of the first team squad.

After speaking to his representatives Fred Pena and Marcos Cassep, they are looking for another European loan destinaton for him. Douglas has a contract up to June 30, 2019.

Douglas has not convinced Benfica coach Rui Vitoria, who already complained about him being out of shape. After that he has only been used twice in the Champions League and twice in Taca de Portugal matches.

Benfica's loan contract specifies that for Barcelona to earn the first part of the fee, Douglas had to play in over half of the 23 games they had to play between the start of the season and the end of the year. He will not come close to that and Benfica will clearly not utilise the 2.5m euro option to buy they have.
