The Catalans are ready for heavy turnover and players could swap numbers

That the board have a titanic job ahead of them is clear. Mateu Alemany won’t be pictured on a yacht in his beloved Balearic Isles. Or if he is, he’ll be on the phone. There are plenty of ins and outs to be done this summer.

The squad list is yet to be defined and some players will be looking to change numbers.

There are only nine that seem guaranteed for next season.

NEAR CERTS

Ter Stegen 1: The German will be in goal.

Sergino Dest 2: It looks like with Alves going, his position is secure.

Gerard Pique 3: The defender does not want to leave and will fight for his place.

Ronald Araujo 4: One of the most certain of all the squad after his renewal.

Sergio Busquets 5: We will see if he keeps his status in the team but he will be in the squad for sure.

Pedri 8: Last time he had the No 16 shirt but with Alves leaving, he will take the 8, that his beloved idol Andres Iniesta wore.

Ansu 10: The youngster took it from Messi after the Argentine left.

Nico Gonzalez 14: He started with the 28 but moved to the 14, which he will keep.

Jordi Alba 18: The left-back may have competition in the squad but the number is his.

Eric Garcia 24: The defender will stick to the 24 most likely, although 6, 15 and 16 are set to be available.

DANCING NUMBERS

Ferran Torres 19: He will likely take the 7 or 11 shirts.

Frenkie de Jong 21: If he stays, he will keep his number but it looks like he could go.

Memphis 9: He could change if Lewandowski asks for the No 9 shirt.

Aubameyang 25: The forward could swap after taking the only one available when he arrived.

MOVING ON

Riqui Puig 6: The shirt will soon have a new owner with Xavi not counting on the midfielder.

Dembele 7: He is poised to leave and Ferran Torres might take it… or Raphinha?

Adama Traore 11: He is not staying so the shirt is up for graps.

Martin Braithwaite 12: It seems likely he will leave even though he would rather stay.

Neto 13: The reserve keeper will be moving on.

Lenglet 15: The French defender is not in Xavi’s plans and shall depart.

Pedri 16: Moving to the No 8 as mentioned.

Luuk de Jong 17: Another loanee going home, another empty shirt.

Oscar Mingueza 22: He is going to be moved along.

Samuel Umtiti 23: The French defender is in the same position as always. If he does not move they will look to end his deal unilaterally.

On top of these, Abde will come up to the first team, along with Collado back from loan. Gavi will also take a first team number after wearing the 30 this season.
