Barcelona's Junior Firpo to complete €15 million move to Leeds United

The left-back will join the Premier League side on a four-year deal in the coming days

Barcelona have closed their first big deal of the summer. Junior Firpo will move to Leeds United for 15 million euros, plus three million more in potential add-ons.

It's a good operation for the club, who recover the money invested in the left-back who never quite took off during two years at Camp Nou.

The transfer will be made official over the weekend, in theory, once the former Spain U21 international has completed a medical with the Premier League side.

Barça told Junior at the end of the season that he was not in their plans. There have been offers from Italy, with Milan showing interest, but only for a loan.

The Catalan club always prioritised a sale and the appearance of Leeds led to a definitive decision. West Ham had also enquired about the price, but Junior was keen to join Marcelo Bielsa's team.

The former Real Betis man will now travel to England to put the finishing touches to a four-year deal at Elland Road.

Barça now want to sign a new left-back pending what happens with Jordi Alba. The Spain international has offers and the club aren't ruling anything out, although he wants to stay put.

The Blaugrana will also bet strongly on youngster Alex Balde in the long-term, but for the upcoming season they need someone who can compete with Alba, with Balde still raw. There's not much money to invest, but there are interesting options.
