The midfielder is injured and will not return to action until next year

Barcelona midfielder Pedri Gonzalez will not reappear until next year because of a setback in his recovery from a muscular injury. The club hoped to be able to use him in December but he needs more time out.

The 2021 Golden Boy winner was only able to play in four games so far this season, two in La Liga and two in the Champions League. The player suffered an injury against Bayern and was forced to return early against Benfica, where he felt the problem again.

He had medical clearance to play but the game provoked a new rupture in his thigh and he has not been able to return. He’s paying the price for playing so much last season, at the Euros and at the Olympics in the summer.

Luckily for Barcelona Gavi and Nico have come to the fore and are doing very well for the club along with De Jong and Busquets in midfield.
