In Belgium they have decided that their top flight will be ended as it stands and will declare Bruges champions as they were first.
If the same thing happened in Spain eventually that would mean that Barcelona would be champions as they are top.
All of Europe’s top leagues will have taken note of the decision as they look to find solutions to their own leagues.
However Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has stated his intention to get the games played. It would be an economic disaster not to play out the rest of the competitions.
The Belgian league said: "The board of directors unanimously decided that it was not desirable, whatever the scenario envisaged, to continue the competition after 30 June."
They have made their recommendation to the general assembly, who will likely approve it on April 15 - with promotion and relegation to be decided then.
Bruges are 15 points clear of Gent in the table.
