Barcelona working to place Samuel Umtiti in Ligue 1

The French centre back has not been in favour for quite some time and it's time to go

Barcelona’s big challenge will be to try and get rid of players this summer to make room for an overhaul. There are many who aren’t needed and the club needs them off the wage bill.

One of them is Samuel Umtiti, who the club have tried to sell for years but have not been able to. There is hope that now his contract is lower than before, a French club might move for him.

It’s evident that Barcelona will still have to contribute to his wages but there are bigger chances he goes now.

Umtiti had loan offers last summer, one in Italy and Besiktas, but the player asked Joan Laporta for one more chance to prove himself at Barcelona.

In January the club again tried to put him on the market but he was injured and could not go anywhere. Umtiti’s people know it’s impossible for him to move to a top team and so he might go back to Ligue 1 to start to feel like a footballer again.

Umtiti would like to go to Lyon but they have not called. Montpellier, Nice and Rennes are the clubs who have made some declaration of interest, either directly or indirectly.

Barcelona are willing to negotiate a loan or a sale, and it seems like finally the Umtiti saga will come to an end.
