Barcelona willing to reduce the price to flog Rakitic

The club don't want him to hand around and go for free in 2021

It's an open secret that Barcelona are prepared to let Ivan Rakitic leave. The Croatian has just one year left on his deal and there are no plans to offer him a renewal, so the club have placed him on the market.

But it's also true that Rakitic is in no rush to leave and Barça have accepted to drop his price to help achieve an exit. Talks have been parked until August, though, when the Champions League will be concluded.

Barça were close to letting Rakitic leave in January but he refused to go. Now, he has said that his intention is to see out his contract. The club see that as a sign that he wants to leave for free in 2021, but they're not contemplating that scenario.

Sevilla are interested and Rakitic wants to end his career there but the operation is only possible if Rakitic goes for free. Barça, therefore, will think about a reduced price, even though Sevilla, so far, have not made any firm move.

Barça have already signed Pjanic and sold Arthur with the objective of restructuring their midfield.
