The coach wants his former team-mate back next summer and Barcelona will try
Joan Laporta said it in an interview with ESPN in the States. “I feel in debt to Lionel Messi,” said the president. The relationship needs to be repaired after his traumatic exit, and the goal is to bring him back next summer.
There’s not a formula yet for how to do that. All possibilities are open, with the club keen on Messi having a proper goodbye.
Xavi wants him back and thinks that Messi can still deliver for Barcelona. The only thing that’s ruled out so far is that he will come back this summer.
He has one more year on his PSG deal and if everything works out, will come back to Barcelona for the 2023-24 season and beyond.
