Barcelona will take up option to sign Carrasco from Atletico in summer

Yannick Carrasco will play for Barcelona next season. The Catalan club only have a purchase option for the player, but the decision on his arrival has been made and there is a sporting and economic OK for the operation to be carried out. Barça have already conveyed to Carrasco and his camp calm and confidence for the near future.

The Carrasco operation was very much to the taste of the coaching staff. He is the type of winger who opens the pitch and that Xavi considers key to his style. Technically good, the club has great reports on the Belgian international on a personal and professional level. It is also very important that his salary is low for a club that needs to reduce its wage bill.

Carrasco was willing to force the issue to arrive in January on loan with an obligatory purchase option, but Barça preferred that he not do so after reaching an agreement with Atlético. The payment of €3 million fee for Memphis, plus an additional €1m in possible add-ons, unraveled the operation in a friendly manner between the clubs.

The arrival of Carrasco in June presumes that there will be changes in Barça's attack. Xavi is not at all satisfied with Barça's goalscoring balance, since Lewandowski is the only attacker who is complying, so offers could be listened to for several players. A busy summer is coming for sure.
