The Catalans have changed their plans and will go to Austria instead

Barcelona, pending official confirmation from the club, have agreed a new friendly which replaces the game they were supposed to play against Beitar in Jerusalem. They will go to Austria to face RB Salzburg on August 4.

Barca have decided to cancel the game against the Israeli side, which supposedly would have earned the club 1 million euros. However diplomatic and political pressure led the club to change their plan to avoid the costs on an image level. The friendly was opposed by the APF (Palestine FA), who complained publicly about the decision.

Despite that Joan Laporta had no doubts about travelling to Tel Aviv with Ronaldinho to attend a Barca Legends game.

The Barcelona first team squad will spend a few days in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, between July 28 and August 2. It’s not known yet if they will return to Barcelona before the game against Salzburg or head straight to Austria. They will get less money from this game, likely half a million euros.
