The club believe the terms on the table are in line with the defender's growth

The weeks pass and Ronald Araujo's contract situation has not been resolved. Not just that, but the rope has been tensed. SPORT revealed a few days ago that reaching an agreement remained complicated. On Tuesday, Catalunya Radio add that Barça are sticking to their last offer. That's to say, the club have no intention of upping the proposal currently on the table.

The cited media, as explained by SPORT, assure that there is still a big difference between the two sides and the player's agents now know they won't get a better offer from Barça. The club believe that the terms, which would treble his current earnings, are in line with his growth as a player and also the club's new policy on not overspending on wages.

Remember that Araujo is out of contract in 2023, so has 15 months left on his deal. He's one of the lowest-paid players at the club and the fact the salaries that will be paid to new signings (around €6.5m annually to Christensen and Kessie) has been leaked has not helped unblock the situation.

Meanwhile, various English clubs continue to tempt the player with much bigger offers.
