The English international has two years to run on his contract at the Etihad

Barcelona continues to monitor the market for players that could improve them next season. Another name can now be added to the list of possible attacking reinforcements: Manchester City's Raheem Sterling.

As revealed by SPORT, Barça are confident of raising funds in the coming weeks to be able to make a big name signing this summer, someone who excites the supporters and raised the level of competition within the squad.

England international Sterling's name joins the list of players whose names are now on the table.

Barça are aware any deal will be difficult and it will be necessary to include players as makeweights to bring the cost of the operation down.

Sterling, 26, has a contract with City until 2023 but in the final stretch of the season, he didn't play as much as he would like and would listen to other offers.

In 292 games for City, he's scored 114 goals and set up 87 more, leading to a goal participation of 0.69 goals per game.

A replacement for Dembele?

Barça wanted and still want to renew Ousmane Dembele's deal beyond 2022. However, his lack of urgency to renew has forced Barça to make a decision: the France international is on the market and they will listen to offers for him.

Sterling would be the ideal replacement for Dembele if he didn't renew.
