The coaches are keen to keep the Colombian defender on board

Barcelona's coaching staff have already decided that Yerry Mina will get his chance next season. His youth and the lack of time he's had to adapt since signing in January have held him back so far, but Ernesto Valverde and his staff are convinced he can be an important player for the club.

The decision has been taken and the Colombian will remain at Camp Nou as one of the first team's four centre-backs. At the moment, he's behind Gerard Piqué, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen.

Valverde will give him the chance to grow next season, With so many games, the depth of the bench is one of the keys to success and the former Athletic coach knows that.

The list of clubs interested in loaning Mina had been long. The best placed were Girona, but Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal had also asked about him. But Barça have blind faith in their new man, who they spent nine million euros on plus add-ons in the January transfer window.
