Barcelona want USMNT's Sergiño Dest to be part of the Carrasco deal

The Catalan club are ready to let the right-back leave for good this summer

Barça have been planning for next season for some time now. The aim of the sporting department is to bring in their targets while spending as little money as possible. Messi, Gundogan and Íñigo Martínez would come as free agents, while Aubameyang could end up joing for free, too.

Another of the desired players is Yannick Carrasco. Barça have an option to buy for around 15 million euros, but their idea is to lower that figure by including Sergiño Dest in the operation. For now, Atletico do not want to talk about anything other than paying the agreed amount.

The Catalan club are clear that Carrasco can add to the project. The coaches like him and the reports from the sporting area are excellent. His wage is totally do-able within the new Blaugrana salary scale, but the objective is to reduce the transfer fee as much as possible. Carrasco wants to come to Barça and has already warned Atlético that he will not listen to proposals from the Premier League. In fact, in January he pushed hard to move to Camp Nou, but in the end he had to stay. Carrasco's stance could be decisive in his incorporation.

Barça know that Atletico will need a right-back for next season -- or a versatile full-back. In the past, there has been some interest in Dest, although they were only willing to take him on loan, something Barça did not accept. Los Colchoneros have Nahuel Molina as their first-choice right-back and in January they brought in Matt Doherty from Tottenham, but only for six months. Doherty is not in Simeone's plans and will not continue, so there could be an option.

The Blaugrana want to get rid of Dest for good. Xavi does not count on him for sporting reasons and his loan to Milan has not gone well. In spite of everything, the American international has a lot of suitors and offers will not be lacking, although he may be more attracted by the Atlético project. Sevilla are also thinking about him and German side Union Berlin are willing to sign him as long as they can get into the Champions League, something they have within reach.
