The French winger banged in a goal against Real Sociedad and the club want a new deal

Ousmane Dembele is flying again at Barca. Xavi has always backed him and their work is bearing fruit. The club want to renew his deal and will work on it calmly once the January window ends.

Dembele wants to stay at the club and the idea is they reach a deal before next season to avoid tensions rising as his last year begins.

The French forward renewed after his contract had expired last summer and a year ago was frozen out of the team when he would not sign.

He did not have any huge offers from European sides last summer and decided to sign on until June 2024. Dembele and his people accepted a lower salary than they hoped for but will now want a raise.

Barca have improved relations with the footballer's agent and know the player wants to stay.

Barcelona think February is the moment to start the conversations. They will go full steam ahead with it but if a deal is not reached then they may have to sell him in the summer.
