Barcelona want to meet Araujo agent over contract renewal
The defender's deal expires in a year and a half and it's time to talk business
Barcelona have booked an appointment with Ronald Araujo’s agent in the coming days to negotiate a new contract for the Uruguayan to improve his salary and the number of years left on the deal.
Araujo is out of contract in June 2023 and his renewal, after the excellent performances he has been putting in, is a priority for the club.
Contact between Barcelona and Araujo’s agent Edoardo Crnjar have been going n for a while and they will meet soon. The player wants to stay but would also like recognition according to his value and what he’s giving to Barcelona.
The club know they should reward him for his commitment and performance. He is only 22 and could go on to mark an era for Barcelona.
They are optimistic a deal will be reached, especially as Araujo is also grateful to Barca for buying him from Boston River for 1.7m euros, which could rise to 5m with variables.
There is interest in Madrid for Ronald Araujo but Barcelona are calm, confident he will not be tempted by Florentino Perez. The Premier League is a different story, but Barcelona expect he will stay.
