Barcelona want centre-back Samuel Umtiti out of the club in January

The defender has not played this season and has five players ahead of him

Both Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman and the club's recruitment department are clear that Samuel Umtiti will not get chances at the club this season.

The defender was reluctant to leave in the summer and forced a meeting with the president, Joan Laporta, in which it was agreed he would get one last opportunity.

That opportunity appears to have passed and the club are pushing for him to leave in January whatever happens or they could take drastic measures.

Barça want to save as much as possible on his wages as he does not feature in their plans at all.

Umtiti has a contract until 2023. The club wanted to transfer him in the summer or at least loan him. The player was only open to a loan but wanted a Champions League club. The offers he received were from Nice, Lazio and Besiktas, where Pjanic moved.

He was not interested in those projects, though, but the club's decision is still firm and hope he will have options to leave in January.

Barça's idea is to move him on permanently, although they know it will be difficult. They now have Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet all ahead of him, as well as Oscar Mingueza.
