Barcelona very attentive to Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler's future

Soler is out of contract at Mestalla in 2023 and is of interest to Barça

Carlos Soler could provide one of the big surprises of the transfer market this summer at Barcelona. The club are following the midfielder and is seen as an ideal player for Xavi Hernandez's system.

Barça have positioned themselves well to make the signing and are waiting for an exit in midfield before committing to a deal. The idea would be to sign him in June, but bringing him in on a free transfer the following summer has not been ruled out, either.

However, the relationship with Valencia is good and a financial agreement could even be put in place for 2023, if Soler decides to renew with a clause, for example. He is currently much closer to renewing than Gaya, another Valencia player with a year to run on his deal.

It's not the first time Soler has been linked with Barça. They have sounded out a deal twice before. He's a complete midfielder who is in great form and has become a regular in the Spain squad.

His contract situation makes him an attractive proposition.

For now, it's a waiting game. Barça have a lot of midfielders and have signed Franck Kessie, who will join from Milan on a free transfer, so there could be a departure if Soler arrives.

Valencia, if he doesn't renew, are almost obliged to sell. Xavi loves the footballer as an interior or a privot and feels he would fit his style of play well.

Soler's name is on the list. A busy summer awaits.
