Barcelona to mount final offensive for Manchester City's Bernardo Silva

| sport

The midfielder is the final piece of the puzzle for coach Xavi Hernandez

After the draw with Rayo Vallecano and having been able to register all the new signings with the exception of Jules Kounde, Barcelona are clear that their business is not over yet. There are still two weeks left in the window and they expect there to be outs and and ins.

The cherry on the cake Barça are making would be the Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva. The club have been in contact with his agent Jorge Mendes for weeks and have a pre-agreement over personal terms.

Barça need to reduce the size of their squad and their wage bill in the coming days to be able to negotiate with Bernardo's club, Manchester City. A deal could be possible for around €60 million plus add-ons.

The player was close to leaving City last summer and was promised by coach Pep Guardiola that he would be allowed to leave this year for a satisfactory offer. Mendes and Bernardo both want the Barça move.

Bernardo believes his future is away from Manchester, as he has demonstrated in recent days. He was the last player to leave the pitch after the game vs. Bournemouth on Saturday, applauding the fans.

He then posted on social media: "A great performance from the team and a fantastic atmosphere! I would also like to thank everyone at the stadium for those beautiful moments of love and support you guys showed me 💙"

It sounds like a goodbye. Because Barcelona are ready to mount their final offensive to convert the Portuguese international into one of their stars.
