Barcelona tell Carles Perez he can look for a new club this month

Barcelona told Carles Perez on Friday that he can look for a new team. It's a totally surprising and unexpected decision that, SPORT has learned, has left the youngster really upset. He did not see it coming. 

Perez trained with the first team as normal on Friday and the surprise came when he wasn't in the 18-man squad and B team midfielder Alex Collado was, despite the lack of forwards currently available to coach Quique Setien. 

But the bigger surprise was still to come. After training, Perez was told that he was no longer in the team's plans and that he could search for a new club. 

It was a genuine shock for the player and for everyone else, because he had done well in the majority of games he had played this season. 

Now, he finds himself on the market with just one week to go in the January transfer window. The option of playing for Barça B has been ruled out. After playing for the first team, he has a good reputation in Spain, the only problem is the timing. 

Another possibility is that Barça already have an offer on the table.
