Barcelona table first official offer for Dinamo Zagreb's Dani Olmo

Con el futuro en el aire... Dani Olmo continúa marcando golazos con el Dinamo / | SPORT.es

The forward left Barça when he was 16 but the Catalan club want to bring him back

The rumours of interest in Dani Olmo, from Barcelona and other clubs, have been constant in recent months. The Catalans brilliant performances for Spain and Dinamo Zagreb have drawn offers from across Europe.

But now everything has changed. Barcelona have made the first official offer for Olmo. Interest has progressed to action. Barça know there is interest from other clubs and there's a risk that they could miss out on him if they don't move in January.

Barça do not want him immediately, but next season. But they know they have to tie him down as soon as possible to avoid any unnecessary surprises. That's where the first offer comes in. Given how negotiations work, it's unlikely Dinamo will accept it, but it should lead to more talks.

It's not news that Barça want Olmo. SPORT first revealed their interest in November 2018. Since then, the Catalan forward's growth has been rapid, both for club and country. His form for Spain U21s led to a senior call up and a debut goal.

Now we will have to see what happens in the coming days and weeks. Barça's official offer could accelerate the interest of other clubs. Olmo, obviously, wants to return to Barça, where he played until he was 16, but Dinamo will look to sell to the biggest bidder.
