Barcelona set to close Alejandro Balde contract extension until 2027

The left-back will commit his long-term future to Camp Nou

Alejandro Balde's renewal with Barcelona is now just a step away from being finalised. This week the final agreement could be reached to tie him down until 2027 with a release clause of €1 billion. The Blaugrana are aware of the progress of the full-back and the interest he was arousing in the market, so have made a final effort to secure his continuity in a clear commitment to the future.

No one at the Catalan club doubted the agreement despite the fact that it has not been as easy as expected. Balde, who has always wanted to continue at Spotify amp Nou, wanted to be valued in the same way as other key players in the team such as Pedri or Ansu, with a similar salary. Barça's relations with his agent, Jorge Mendes, are fluid and the agreement has been worked out despite the fact that the representative had always warned that there were clubs willing to pay a lot of money for a transfer.

Balde has the sporting guarantees from the club that they will continue to bet firmly on him as a starter. Ronald Koeman already gave him minutes, but it was Xavi Hernandez who prevented his loan at the beginning of the current season to give him a starting place over Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso. The Blaugrana have also made it clear that his new contract can be registered, as Barça's priority is to be able to register him and the other renewals before making any signings.

The left-back, already a full international with Spain, left his future open a few weeks ago with some statements in which he did not assure his continuity. Despite everything, both he and his agent have always worked to be able to continue as a Blaugrana. Barça will thus secure an important asset and will have the chapter of renewals practically finalised with Balde and Iñaki Peña, who will surely also give the OK in the next few days.
