Valverde's team have broken a record held by Bayern Munich since 2002 in Europe's premier competition

FC Barcelona haven't only qualified for the quarter finals of the Champions League but, in the contest against Lyon, broke another record in Europe's top tier competition. This record was previously held by Bayern Munich, who went out of the tournament last season, since 2002.

According to the internet's favourite statistician, 'MisterChip', Barça have gone 30 matches unbeaten at home in the Champions League. That includes 27 victories, including last night's one against Lyon, and three draws. This saw Ernesto Valverde's team overtake the 29-match unbeaten streak which was held by Bayern Munich between 1998 and 2002.

After Liverpool's victory over Bayern last night, at the Allianz Arena, it means there is no representative from the Bundesliga in the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time in 13 years.
