Barcelona renew B team star Alex Collado's deal
The young forward, 21, will be a first team player next season
Barcelona have announced the contract renewal of Alex Collado. The Barca B captain’s deal expired in June but the club have executed the two-year extension option he had in his contract.
It also means next season he will be moved to the first-team squad. The Sabadell born midfielder has spent his life in La Masia and his dream has nearly come true.
Collado’s profile is liked in the club but not so much by Ronald Koeman. The Dutch midfielder has not counted on the B team skipper, even though he is Garcia Pimienta’s key player. Konrad de la Fuente tends to be the B team player that Koeman most uses when he wants to bolster the attack.
Collado’s release clause will also increase, to 100 million euros. It’s a high number that protects the club against him being stolen away.
Various sides are interested in Collado and last summer he was close to moving to Girona on loan. At the last minute he stayed at Barca B to try and convince Koeman he deserved a chance in the first team.
