Barcelona pull out of the race to sign Frank Kessie
The AC Milan midfielder will be going for free at the end of the season
Franck Kessie will be a free agent in the summer with his contract up at AC Milan. The 25 year old was of interest to Barcelona, who have been raking over the free-agent market in recent years.
However he will not be coming to Barcelona, his contract demands are too high. Barcelona are trying to get their wage bill under control and already have plenty of midfielders. The sports department know that Kessie has already rejected a proposal of 5m euros per season.
Barcelona would not go that high in any case, as he would not be a key player. Various Premier League teams and Juventus are the best positioned sides to get him now.
Barcelona’s relationship with Milan is good, especially with Paolo Maldini, the club’s sporting director. The Catalans were in touch to find out the latest on Kessie.
