16,521 signatures have now been verified in the motion against Bartomeu

They had until Oct. 9 but with two days to go, the number of verified signatures needed to trigger a vote of no confidence against Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been hit.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed that 16,521 signatures had been verified and that there will be a referendum on Bartomeu's future.

It's been almost a month since a historic number of figures were presented at the club by Mes que una mocio.

In 2008, there were 9,145 against Joan Laporta and 5,664 against Josep Lluis Nunez in 1998.

Mes que una mocio, the petition launched by Jordi Farre, accumulated 20,687 and enough have now been verified to move on to the next stage.

The club now have 20 days to name a date for a referendum on Bartomeu's future.
