Barcelona park negotiations to further reduce Pique & Busquets' wages

Barcelona have ruled out negotiating salary cuts with Gerard Piqué and Sergio Busquets to help reduce the wage bill for the time being.

After the latest movements in the market and seeing the difficulty in reaching an agreement with both captains, the club has preferred to leave the possible adjustments on standby.

For weeks, the club had contemplated a significant reduction in the salaries of Piqué and Busquets, two of the highest earners in the current squad, as an effective measure to lighten the salary mass and thus face have more room to maneuver during the final stretch of the complicated summer transfer window.

KOUNDÉ SOLUTION

The definitive registration of Jule Koundé and the moderate optimism regarding the transfer of Aubameyang and other players in the remainder of the market has allowed Barça to abandon negotiations with Piqué and Busquets.

In the case of Gerard, the player has already reiterated that in recent months he has made all kinds of economic gestures to alleviate the financial needs of the club.

In the case of Busquets, the midfielder had also transferred his predisposition to some type of pact, as long as the possible fiscal consequences were contemplated taking into account that he only has one more year of contract. The lack of agreement and the new solutions appearing on the market have made it possible to dismiss this option.
