The youngster's current deal is due to expire on 2022 and Barça want to extend his terms
Negotiations began to renew Ilaix Moriba's contract with Barcelona on Thursday. The midfielder's terms expire in 2022 and both parties are keen to extend his link to the club.
Thursday was the first proper contact between Barça and Ilaix's agents, the agency Rogon. The youngster recently announced that he had started working with the company, although it was because his previous agents had moved there.
The meeting went well and served to kick off negotiations which will not be straightforward, even though everyone involved wants the same outcome and is optimistic of a favourable outcome.
Ilaix, 18, broke into the first team at Barça this past season under Ronald Koeman, playing 14 times and scoring one goal, against Osasuna. He also set up three goals.
