The Portuguese midfielder is extremely keen to come to Camp Nou and will lower his salary

Barcelona are throwing all they’ve got at this market and the next player they want is Bernardo Silva. The Blaugrana have opened contact with Man City to sign the Portuguese attacking midfielder and are convinced they can seal a deal. The idea is to lower the price of the deal, knowing that the player has asked to leave the Premier League side and he has agreed a deal with Barcelona for four seasons. His future may even be independent of that of Frenkie de Jong.

Joan Laporta said that the club’s window could go down in history. Silva has become the next strategic objective. Bernardo is pressing to leave and that will help in negotiations with City, which won’t be easy.

They have asked for around 80 million euros for the midfielder. He is not happy in Manchester and that is a problem for City. Barcelona could be a good solution.

Barcelona have the financial muscle to take on the deal even if De Jong does not go. They have promised Silva they will go for him and bring him in, if he is willing to lower his salary by 50 per cent.

Negotiations have started and next week could be decisive for Silva’s signing. There is optimism at Barcelona. He could even arrive before Marcos Alonso.
