Barcelona need to adjust contracts given to Kessie and Christensen

| sport

The duo will sign for the club in July when their respective contracts expire

Once again, Barcelona have to perform a juggling act to be able to register their new signings with LaLiga. The club's delicate financial position will oblige them to make certain salary cutbacks to comply with the league's fair play rules.

So far, without going any further, Barça have still not announced the signings of free agents Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen, deals that have been closed for a long time. The transfers will be made official when they can formally join Xavi Hernandez's first team squad.

At the moment, Barça are adjusting the contracts of the AC Milan midfielder and Chelsea defender -- who are both out of contract on June 30.

Evidently, the club are respecting the agreements with both players, but need to make some small adjustments to fit them within fair play. Official news is expected after June 30, when the financial year closes and Joan Laporta's board of directors have activated some of the financial levers they have on the table.

Kessie and Christensen will be Barça's first summer signings. They have both already said goodbye to their respective clubs and are only thinking of succeeding at Camp Nou.
