The Brazilian has been injured, although he's not part of Ronald Koeman's plans

Young midfielder Barcelona Matheu Fernandes has been cleared to return to action after injuring his hamstring in September, although his chances of playing under Ronald Koeman remain minimal.

In fact, the Brazilian has still not been officially presented as a Barça player and has not played a single minute for the Catalan club since signing in January.

After signing from Palmeiras for seven million euros, he was sent on loan to Real Valladolid, where he made just three appearances in La Liga.

Fernandes, 22, returned to Camp Nou in the summer. He has a contract with the club until 2025 and a 300 million euro release clause.

Barca were keen to move him on again in the last transfer window -- either on loan or permanently -- but failed to find a suitor for the midfielder.

It seems unlikely he will feature under Koeman. He is not in the Dutch coach's plans, although he could enter some matchday squads with 23 players now allowed to be selected.
