The Dutchman has missed six games as Barça have dropped six points

Midfielder Frenkie de Jong will probably be one of the new faces in Quique Setien's squad for Barcelona game at the Nuevo Zorrilla against Real Valladolid on Saturday.

De Jong has recovered well from a calf injury and the Dutch midfielder could make his return this weekend. It's been almost a month since he last played for the club.

June 13 was his last appearance in a Barça shirt, in the game against Mallorca, the first one back after the coronavirus pandemic stopped football in March.

He asked to come off at the end of the game but it didn't appear to be too serious. He was an unused substitute against Leganes at Camp Nou three days later but was then ruled out with a calf problem.

Since then, he has missed the games against Sevilla, Athletic, Celta Vigo, Atlético Madrid, Villarreal and Espanyol -- six games in which Barça have dropped six points.

TRAINING

However, the Barça midfielder has trained this week and on Thursday looked in good shape. Everything suggests he will be back in the squad against Valladolid and could have his first minutes in one month.

De Jong, a 75 million signing from Ajax, has made 38 appearances in his first season at Camp Nou: 27 in La Liga, seven in the Champions League, three in the Copa del Rey and one in the Spanish Super Cup.
