President Joan Laporta wanted the previous board's figures to be cleared

Barcelona members voted in favour of the accounts for the 2019-20 season on Sunday. In total, 616 voted for the closing of the accounts, with 67 voting against and 68 abstaining.

Therefore, the accounts are officially closed with revenue of €855 million and overall losses of €97m.

President Joan Laporta called for members to vote them through despite doubts over the numbers under the previous board, presided over by Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"If we detect any irregularities down the line, we will seek responsibility in a way we consider fair and efficient," Laporta said. "Approving these accounts does not exonerate the previous board."

Laporta, president since March, explained that rejecting the accounts could lead to further problems and that approving them was the best way "to be able to move forward."
