Barcelona make a low offer for Sergio Busquets to renew with club
The midfielder will have to take a big pay cut to stay at Camp Nou
FC Barcelona have decided to present a formal contract renewal offer to club captain Sergio Busquets. It is a low proposal, though, given the economic circumstances that the club is going through.
The offer is €7 million gross per season. The club is aware that it is significantly lower than what he Busquets receiving and what he could receive at another club, as he would certainly earn more at Inter Miami, who are pushing very hard for him, or at another club where he could play the final years of his career.
But Barça need to free up wage bill space and that is why it is a low offer.

Barcelona have made the decision to make this offer in response to the wishes of coach Xavi Hernandez, who has always been in favour of the 34-year-old continuing to play for the club.
The offer to Busquets will be formally presented next week and the player, whose contract expires on June 30, will have to make a decision on his future.
