Barcelona know their first opponents for next season in La Liga

Barcelona now know their first opponent in La Liga. It’s Real Sociedad, in the first week of the season, on the weekend of August 15 at Camp Nou.

The Catalans finished a disappointing third last season, behind champions Atletico Madrid and second place Real Madrid, on 86 and 79 points respectively.

Ronald Koeman’s side, in his first season in charge, started badly, recovered in 2021 but fell short at the end.

Last season they started in the third week of the campaign, having missed the first two because of the coronavirus pandemic delaying the Champions League finale.

Koeman’s side thrashed Villarreal 4-0, with goals from Ansu Fati (two), Lionel Messi and a Pau Torres own goal.
