Barcelona keep their word with Sergi Roberto over deal
The Catalan midfielder is calm over his new contract and recovering from injury
Sergi Roberto is recovering from the surgery he had in Finland on December 9. He is calm because Barcelona have given him their word that they will renew his deal by two more years, until 2024.
Xavi spoke to the board and said he agrees with Sergi’s contract being extended. His agents and Barcelona were set to meet the same week he had his operation but it was postponed.
The Catalans have been working on harder issues like Ferran Torres arriving and Ousmane Dembele’s renewal, but soon they will get to Sergi Roberto.
He wants to stay at Barcelona, Xavi wants him and Joan Laporta agrees. The agreement should come soon enough. They will also be able to lower his salary somewhat to help the club with their FFP requirements. Sergi Roberto is staying calm, waiting to get back on the pitch and seal his future at at the club.
