Barcelona interested in signing former Villarreal striker Bakambu

Barcelona are interested in DR Congo striker Cedric Bakambu who used to play for Villarreal. The Catalans are studying the international market for a forward after letting Munir El Haddadi join Sevilla. Barca only have one No 9, in Luis Suarez.
The former Villarreal forward joined Beijing Sinobo Guoan in the Chinese Super League, who payed 40 million for him. Bakambu is the third best paid player in China.
He's a striker Ernesto Valverde knows well. He scored 32 goals in 75 games for Villarreal and has a profile that would suit Barca - knows La Liga, is strong and a hard-worker. However the board received a 'no' from the Chinese club and with three years to go on his contract he cannot be pried away.
Barca hope that that Bakambu to put pressure on to leave because he is not adapting perfectly to life over there yet. The player forms part of a list of 10 players who the club are interested in signing. There are 10 days left of the winter window.
