The Catalan club are set to spend a year or more away from Camp Nou as work begins

Another step forward in the process of remodeling Spotify Camp Nou. FC Barcelona has formally informed the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that next season it will play its home games at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys de Montjuïc. The Blaugrana have passed the information to the entity presided over by Luis Rubiales, which in turn will inform UEFA in the next few hours.

This communication, which had to be made before Friday March 31, comes at a crucial time for the jewel in the crown of the Espai Barça, Camp Nou. President Joan Laporta's board of directors, meeting this Thursday at the culé temple, is finalising a financing agreement for the works, which cannot exceed €1.5 billion, the figure approved by the Assembly of Compromised Members held at the end of October 2022.

Barça want to reach an agreement to finance the remodeling of the stadium as soon as possible, but the context is far from ideal and they do not want to compromise the future of the club. In a very complicated economic situation, Laporta and his trusted people will have to put together competitive projects in all sections, do so with budgets adjusted to the reality of the club and, in addition, give a definitive boost to the new Camp Nou.
