The Catalans have been given 15 working days to replace the injured Dembele

The clock is now ticking after Barcelona were given the green light to sign an attacker outside of the transfer window on Monday.

Barça now have 15 working days to complete a deal for a forward after Ousmane Dembele was ruled out for the rest of the season.

They also must comply with other rules that state they can only sign players from the Spanish league or someone who is currently without a club.

Any player Barça do sign will only be registered to play in La Liga, too, as the deadline for registering new players for the Champion League has now past.

Barça will have to negotiate a fee with any La Liga club if they're interested in signing one of their players, although they could also choose to pay the release clause.

Among the players linked with filling the vacancy is Getafe's Angel. In Getafe's case, as revealed in SPORT last week, they would have until Feb. 20 to sign a replacement.

That period would not be motivated by losing a forward to Barcelona, but because of authorisation from La Liga because they lost Cabrera to Espanyol for his release clause late in the window giving them no time to react.

La Liga rules allow all clubs, in the case of losing a player to their release clause in the final 15 days of the window, one month to sign a new player.

If Barcelona sign a player from another club, they would not be able to sign a replacement.
