The Japan international is out of contract at the end of the season

Daichi Kamada is one of the midfielders that Barcelona are keeping an eye on. According to Sky Sports, Barça and Atlético Madrid are tracking the Japanese player, whose contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expires on 30 June. Kamada is a versatile player, who has played both as a midfielder and as a striker for the German club.

Barça have been scouring the market for midfielders for months in view of the possibility that Busquets will not continue. Some of Xavi's maneuvers, such as trying out Eric Garcia in this position, seem to go in this direction, to prepare for the possibility that the Busquets will leave in June.

The name of Kamada, a 26-year-old midfielder, appears as a market opportunity, even if he is a more attacking midfielder. A player in progression, from a league as competitive as the Bundesliga, who would arrive for free.

This season, he has played in 36 games, scored 13 goals and provided five assists. Spectacular figures for a midfielder. He is neither the first nor the second favourite choice of the coaches, but the economic situation at the club makes it necessary to make a balance.

A difficult market

Xavi's favourite, the Real Sociedad player Martin Zubimendi, seems an increasingly distant option given the clause he has and the demands of his club. Another option that the club was considering was the Portuguese player Rúben Neves, but Xavi preferred other options and he is getting closer and closer to Manchester United.

Furthermore, the club are increasingly convinced that Busquets will eventually accept the renewal proposal. Despite being 34 years old, the player is still a permanent fixture for Xavi. The presence of the coach, who is in favour of continuing to count on him, could be key in Busquets' decision.

But there are more factors: the possibility of Messi returning to Barça in June also appeals to Busquets, who at one point looked set to join the Argentine at Inter Miami. That was the intention of the American team, an option that seems increasingly remote in the short-term.
