David Alaba’s arrival at Camp Nou next season is complicated. Barcelona are ready to step away from the potential signing of the Austrian because his wage demands are too high. The club are prioritising the arrival of a centre forward.
Alaba has offered himself to Barcelona various times. In the last three years his father has travelled to the Catalan capital on several occasions, while his agent Pini Zahavi has held conversations with Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
Alaba’s versatility was one of the strong points that Mateu Alemany likes about him. He can work as a centre back, left back, wide man, or even central midfielder.
His deal at Bayern Munich ends on June 30, so he will move for free to a new side. However he wants a big bucks deal, outside of Barca’s salary limits.
